Baby Turtles
Baby turtles are incredibly adorable to look at as they can fit right in the palm of your hand. The question is that is a turtle is the right pet for your family or not? At first your child might be quite enamored with a baby turtle, but that could quickly wear off. Turtles do not like to be held nor are they soft and cuddly like so many other types of pets. Plus they can carry salmonella, which can be bad for whoever touches them and does not immediately wash their hands.

Your baby turtle will require specific rules to live by. This includes housing, feeding, cleaning and veterinary care. Your turtle will need a proper home like an aquarium that is big enough so that they can roam around in it. Their home must remain clean so that bacteria does not grow there. Do not take your turtle out and let him roam free as that is when the salmonella can infect your entire home. The best filler for the bottom is rocks that are smooth to the touch. Add basking lights and water and voila: turtle paradise.
Make sure that your baby turtle has plenty of turtle food from the store, greens, earthworms, small fish and fruit for a diet full of variety. Keep your turtle’s aquarium clean and rinse him as well after he eats. Lastly a qualified vet should be called so that your turtle lives out his life as healthy as possible.
